Anyone ever heard of Freecycle dot org? If not, HEAR you go.... I just scored 2 truck loads of duck/chicken manure, straw, woodchips, and about $100 worth of seeds left over from a seed swap in my local area. All FREE of charge. It is a fantastic way to reduce, reuse, recycle and regenerate. I thought the good folks at permies might appreciate something like that...

I got a storm damaged pop up trailer for hauling it away, salvaged a mattress, a electric/gas fridge(It went to college),a electrical heater
that was so big it tripped circuit breakers at a campground and was thrown in to 'get rid of it' (traded) and after stripping and selling the
Aluminum, made it into a flat trailer that i used to haul away many more free cycle items including a complete living room set !

I'm amazed that people aren't sharing this more often Big Al

oh heck yes, i use freecycle all the time (UK, but have used in the US also) - in the last few weeks i've gotten three large bundles of 12' bamboo canes, two pond liners, 8 bales of hay, a shower pan and glass, and an oak tree - and given away other things i didnt need. love freecycle!

I got 20 strawberry plants a couple weekends ago from a nice lady on freecycle! Would have gotten more, but I only brought one container

I've also gotten a few barrels to use for rain barrels, as well as given away a few things. It sure is a great resource for the homesteader.

For sure Freecycle rocks! I have not only gotten hundreds of items (and I am not exagerating) but given many away as well. You will be amazed what people will take if it is free. I had some old, weedy grass full of grubs that someone took knowing how bad it was. They just needed fill I guess. A lot of times I will get on freecycle and ask for something, often rather pricy, and someone has it go give away. I got a bread machine and vaccum sealer last week for my son along with a few tools he needs for his mechanics class.

Don't forget though, it is not just for getting things but giving...it is what keeps it going.
