Nicole did an amazing job creating the new concept art for BB-Increment Badges and "Air" Badges. They're not in the forum software yet, but they're new and exciting and ready to be explained and displayed.

BB-Increment Badges: BB5, BB10, BB20, BB40, BB60: Current concept art shown alongside current PEP1 concept art:

Air Badge: The example below is the Gardening "Air" Badge. Current concept art shown alongside Sand/Straw/Wood/Iron Gardening Badges:

63100  Game-ify Badges more
 63110  BB5, BB10, BB20, etc sub goals w/ badges - BB-Increment
63111  Awarded for a person having completed that number of PEP BB's. If you've done 5 BB's, you get the BB5 Badge, 10, 20, etc up to 60.
     63112  It's any 5, 10, 20, etc PEP BB's.
63113  Presumably, after 60BB's, a person is very close to getting PEP1 certified. Once they are PEP1, the PEP1 Badge will take the place of the BB60 badge.
63114  If you've completed a PEP Badge (let's say, Rocket Sand), you would have the Rocket Sand Badge, and the BB10 Badge (Rocket Sand has 11 BB's in all).
63115  Only one of these would be displayed at a time; such that a person would not be displaying both the BB5 and the BB10 badges.
63116  Post below listing which BB# badge you think you've earned, with links to enough certified BB's to prove it up.
63120  First 24 people to BB20 get some Sepp Holzer grain seed?

63130  "Air" Badge. Awarded for a person having completed one BB in a particular "Aspect."
63131  Will be replaced by the "Sand" Badge for that aspect once a person achieves Sand level.
63140  Who needs one for which Badges?
63141  Post below listing which Air badges you think you've earned, with links to the appropriate certified BB's to prove it up.

I'm thinking that for someone to earn a BB5 or BB20, etc, badge, they would need to post a list of all their badge bits, with links to each. Kind of like this:

56 badge bits! So, I qualify for the BB40 badge WOOT!

And, I'd qualify for the air badges in Tool Care, Foraging, Commerce, Roundwood, Dimensional woodworking, and Gardening.

I should get my act together and do 4 more badge bits so I can get the BB60!

EDITED to add:

since I've completed the textile sand level, these won't count towards my 5, 10, or 20?

Staff note (Ash Jackson) :

I would grant a BB# badge if this post contained links to that number of certified BB's.

A far as I understand, they should count. I think the BB20, BB40, etc are like the PEP1, but with less badge bits done. So, they're the accumulation of all the badge bits you've done.

So, if you've done 5 Textile badge bits (and earned the Textile badge), that counts as 5--and you'd get the BB5! And, if you did 1 from Roundwood and 3 from Commerce and 1 from something else you'd have 5 more badge bits, for a total of 10 badge bits! And, you'd have the BB10.

I'm thinking the PEP1 is like a certification, and the BB10, etc, are less like badges and more like certifications? My terminology if a bit fuzzy here!

They will still count towards your BB5/10/20/etc.

I have no idea. PEP1 for sure I've heard described as a certification. BB10 might just be a way to signal to oneself and others that one is walking the PEP Path.

Yeah, I'd imagine those as a different kind of badge.  So if you can't get any of the badges for some reason you can still get the BB20 badge.

I'm sure it's posted somewhere and I missed it, but how does a person earn the air badge?

Is it for any area you have completed any badge bits?

It's still being worked on but I believe if you get one BB in a given badge, you'd get the air badge for it.  So it's like a token showing that you're on your way to the sand badge for that aspect.

I'm thinking you could post in either this thread, or the official thread for the badge, Just post a direct link to the post where your badge bit was completed.

Like this:

Tool Care
 https://permies.com/t/121940/a/93506/thumb-how-to-copy-a-specific-link-copy-preferred-link.pnghttps://permies.com/wiki/100002/pep-tool-care/PEP-BB-tool-sand-cleanshop#824150

Here's two ways to find a direct link URL to a post:

right-click the little paper icon

click on the share link

Of course, I've got to make all air badge icons, and get them uploaded into the system, and have our programmer fiddle with the forum software so everything works right. But, you could post your Badge Bits now,  so we can give them to you once we have everything ready.

Wow, look at all these new BBs!  Great work everyone!  Nicole and the wizards behind the scenes are working to put them into the software.  Once they're in the system, we'll get some shiny airy new badges in our signature lines

I've got the badges into the system! We're still working out some kinks, but we're able to give them out now!

When you post asking for your badges, please post links to the individual posts, and also give us a little summary, like:

I qualify for the air badges in Tool Care, Foraging, Commerce, and Textiles, as well as the BB20 badge

That way we can more swiftly process your post and figure out which badges to give you. It's hard to read through a whole bunch of links and try to count how many and in what badges and figure out if you already have sand badges in some of those fields.

Maybe even better would be to bold the badges you qualify for:

I qualify for the air badges in Tool Care, Foraging, Commerce, and Textiles, as well as the BB20 badge

Thanks!!!

I qualify for the Earthworks, Rocket, Food Prep and Preservation, Textiles, Electrical, Commerce and Nest air badges and BB60

Earthworks trail
Rocket start a batch box
Food solar rice cooking
Textiles patch
Electrical label panel
Commerce sell labor
Nest clothesline

For the BB60, to avoid a long list of links to the BBs, I'll just mention the badges I've been certified for and how many BBs are in each one.  Those alone get me over 60.
Gardening - 3 BBs
Natural Building - 3
Woodland Care - 10
Roundwood Woodworking - 7
Toolcare - 7
Dimensional Woodworking - 3
Animal Care - 5
Foraging - 7
Community - 3
Plumbing - 6
Natural Medicine - 7
Homesteading - 5
Total = 66
Staff note (Ash Jackson) :

I would grant the BB60 badge if there were links in this post to 60 certified BB's...

Here's Mine!

BBs I've completed:

Nesting - Cloth Napkin System

Natural Medicine - Drying Rose Petals

Working on my BB for oiling wodden utensils (need to do one more tool) and just submitted for my First Aid kit BB for homesteading.

I've got a list of other BBs to work on, and I'm excited!
Staff note (Nicole Alderman) :

Now you have a total of 3 air badges. Yay!!!

Nicole,  Do you have a record of how many people have completed at least one full badge?  I was wondering based on Ashely's request for ideas on how to get more people involved.

I don't, actually! I'd have to go to each Badge thread and look and see how many have a badge. I'm thinking there's something like 10 right now? Off the top of my head, I can think of: Raven, me, Mike Haasl, Dave, Ash, you, Mike Barkely, Pearl, Ashley. That's 9. There's probably at least 2 more people that I'm forgetting.  Ooop! I found some Robbie Bassen and Leif both completed some and so did Michael Holtman. So that's 12 that I know of. I didn't look at all the Badge pages, though!

63141  Post below listing which Air badges you think you've earned, with links to the appropriate certified BB's to prove it up.

I think I have a new Air Badge. For 'Community', because I made a map
Staff note (Nicole Alderman) :

You did! I went and found the link https://permies.com/wiki/101705/pep-community/PEP-BB-community-sand-map#1132647 (it's handy to post the link here so it's faster for us to find and verify and grant you your badge!) Speaking of granting the badge, now you have it!!! Yay!

Hello fine BB moderators, I'd like to submit my eligibility for an air badge in plumbing.  Mostly because I like watching the inexorable creep of new images across my footer.

It was Professor Plum in the bathroom with a lead pipe
Staff note (Mike Haasl) :

I certify you for the plumbing air badge!

Oops! My apologies for missing that one, Rob. That's what I get for certifying BB's on mobile view.

She laughed at how small it was, and now it is even smaller. Poor tiny ad:
