Hi,
The issue is to
compost smaller amounts in a way that is easy for an elderly person. What I think I need is a small composting container of some sort. Buy? Build?
Normally I would just put some
straw bales in a square and fill it up, but I'm looking for my mom's house. She does not have massive waste stream to fill it, so it needs to be smaller than the traditional 3x3x3 pile that seems to be best. The best place to put it would be at the top of the hill above the small garden plot, but that is steep and icy in the winter, and I don't want her to have to go up there at those times. So, something that doesn't let smell out too much and doesn't look horrible would be good so we can put it closer to the house. She has had her share of rodents, so I want something that is contained reasonably well. I think the ones that rotate seem to process the best for that scale. Any thoughts or ideas? I've never wanted to go this route, so I have not done any research.
Also, for this kind of composting would you want sun or shade?
