Morning Forum. We are a couple living in Portland Maine. I have many years experience as a design/build woodworker (frame to cabinets) as well as twenty years in an commune behind me. I can also do some welding, masonry, and interests in all sorts of permaculture engineering and tinkering. My partner has many years as a plant/animal person (not so much serious livestock, more chicken and goat sort of goodness) as well as a course in permaculture design. Energy and passion for it all is our main offering and we are pretty easy to get along with. I have tons of work in the Portland Maine area but we don't have the credit (mistakes of early years) or the capital buy our own homestead yet but are having a hard time waiting and thought we would just throw this out there. Looking for any combination of circumstances that would allow us to put our resources into a homestead/farm. Maybe you have your sights on a large place but its too much for just one family. Or maybe you have a place and need partners to make it amazing. Portland rents are going nuts and we are putting thousands of dollars into American nothing every season and would rather be making something wonder-filled that we belong to. We lean anarchist/progressive and prolly would not fit with folks who base their lives in fear of folks who look or love differently than them. Beyond that we are open to all sorts of ways and approaches. If you were into Russian poetry and Irish folk music, well that would be pretty great as well. We would also be open to buying a place from anyone who could help us find some alternative financing style. We have the monthly income but aren't super tight with the banking community. Open books here, so ask any questions you wish.

Love,
Us

I'm looking for some beginning permaculture farmers who seek mentoring and the opportunity to try out their own business in a supported homestead environment. I'm co-founder of Terra Genesis International, and teach permaculture at Greenfield Community College in western Massachusetts.

> Permaculture homesteading and business mentoring opportunity -Searching for 4 special talented caring people.
> We are searching for 4 individuals with an interest in collaborative homesteading or developing their own earth based regenerative business. The opportunity comes with the option of some consistent professional mentoring. Home/Landowner is offering a farming/permaculture business mentoring situation on a 6 acre homestead in Ashfield. Cost for the on-site residential option is $450/month but you keep all that you earn from your business to help offset this cost.
>
> Applications are due Nov 15th. Send brief letter of interest stating why you are interested along with your resume to mejinwesternmass@gmail.com. There are 4 residential positions available, and participants will live together in a communal household and manage the 6 acres while working on developing their own permaculture/farm business with assistance from the landowner and the other participants. Non-residential participation is also possible.

The optional coaching can include business plan development, Holistic Management'TM, advanced topics in permaculture, marketing and hosting an onsite Permaculture Design Certificate course, as well as PDC teaching experience.

We are searching especially for someone with a passion for regenerative livestock rearing and beekeeping (have a FlowHive coming this month), someone who has experience and interest in culinary arts/value added products and medicinal plants, someone with gifts in marketing, farm based tourism and education. Also open to other innovative creative entrepreneurs with other interests.

People from diverse backgrounds and traditionally under represented groups highly welcomed.

Have you found any takers yet?
My biz partner and I are scouting for locations in Maryland/Virginia presently (we're just outside Baltimore), but we've been open to looking at other areas as well - we've scouted raw land in Tennessee and Ecuador.

We both have excellent credit and cash enough to buy a reasonable sized parcel outright. We are researching forms of ownership currently and are leaning towards going the non-profit route.

I'm not sure I'd be looking to relocate to Maine (although it is beautiful and I'm originally from the Boston area), but if you'd consider coming down this way send me a private message.

Are you still in Portland and still looking? We're just west of Portland creating a permaculture-focused homestead/small farm on 9 acres and are seeking co-stewards.

If you're interested in a conversation, get in touch: Cheryl & Kirk vanwish@netpenny.net

Best,
Cheryl
