Hey gang, I'm new but after seeing others do this I thought I'd give it a try. I don't just dream, I plan to sell my house and move as far away from the idiots as possible. I have had enough of working 7 days a week just to pay bills and live a life that others have decided is normal. I love nature and the outdoors. I guess I'll be okay alone if I absolutely have to but I'd much rather share life with a like minded female. Of course being off grid and isolated you would need to be free of smoking, drinking and drugs. Just simple life of love and be loved. Sounds so romantic but I know it will be a lot of work also. I currently live in West Texas but will not retire here. I'm in the research phase of where is the best place to live off grid. Thanks in advance for being kind to me LOL. I have been reading the forum for years but just now joined.

Great post Homer! I am a newbie too so I know it it takes some guts to put up that initial post. I figured I would do my part in helping to welcome you the same way others welcomed me. From one Texan to another a great big Welcome!

Hi, Homer.  I'm a 60 year single woman starting a similar dream with my daughter and her family on 55 acres in the Sam Houston Forest.  I'm planning an intentional permaculture community so others can carry on while I work to keep the project going and while I age.  The youth of my daughter's family is doing a lot of the hard work.   Let's chat and see if we are compatible in community and maybe romance, too.

Hi Homer,

What a way to introduce yourself! I'm very happily married but if I have to confess to that being the best pick up line, ever! No disrespect intended. So many people want that dream and not just within the last 2 years. I've been plugging away for 8 years on my tiny 2.4 acres with the hopes of it eventually feeding my family 100% (minus things like coffee and wheat, etc that I can't grow here or don't have enough land to produce in usable quantities). I desperately want more land and my husband and I have been looking but what we can afford is essentially high desert and I don't have the time or money to permaculture it up the way I want. I'm also sick to death of the rain around here but it does keep things green. I hope you find the perfect property and the perfect person to share it with!

I'm so happy! And I wish to make this tiny ad happy too:
