There was a single mom who had been using a pair of vise grips for a kitchen hot-water tap handle until the faucet stem was all gone.  The trouble was, the faucet was integral to a huge porcelain double sink, double drain area, and big backsplash unit, and estimates were in the thousands.  I bought a standard cartridge, and sawed off the spline for the handle.  Then, I silver-soldered that to the old stem, and she was back in business.  It could hardly have been easier, but silver solder was the key.

Hi,  Good job.    Do you know if the soldier has enough strength to withstand the repeated pressure force on it?  I might be tempted to wrap it in friction tape since I don't know.
