Confused :(

So an informative, on topic, post of mine was deleted. No note as to why; which seems rather odd to me... There was no opinion or rant, just a note of support and a quick relayed observation..

Since someone's panties apparently got twisted (over what, I do not know), time was taken to delete a post; but wasn't important enough to advise the individual as to why... Seems like priorities are misaligned???

Since proper behavior is important to me, I was left to inquire on the thread itself... When looking up the thread, hoping to find an answer to what I had done wrong, I could not find the thread at all. The whole thread was deleted??? There was some excellent information being shared!

I am at a complete loss over the seeming childish behavior I have witnessed in regards to this particular topic {sigh}

Was it by any chance about politics aka communism/socialist/capitalist. That's not something we do here. there are other places/forums for that and religion, race, sexual orientation,etc- etc

Nope... I quickly picked that up, long before I ever even registered... Hence, my confusion {scratches head}

No idea why then, you could ask the mod that runs the section that you posted in, It may have even been a computer/update glitch.

That entire thread had been taken off line overnight, as Paul felt that it was turning too political.
Overnight, several more posts were deleted, and the thread is now back online.
It is an important issue, effecting all of us. Hopefully we can continue discussing solutions to the problem, without 'overheating' the conversation (no pun intended).

Perhaps your deleted post was a reference to one of the deleted posts, in which case it would have seemed out of place without the original post.

If memory serves, somebody clicked on "report to moderator" and said "this thread is getting political". So I went and looked, and shore-nuff .... so I deleted a bunch of stuff.

Sometimes I take the time to say "Hey, I deleted a bunch of stuff" and sometimes I don't.

Asking about it here in the tinkering forum was the right thing to do.

I want to thank the folks that click on "report to moderator": that feature has been a huge help at keeping this site on focus for the topics I like.

I was a bit confused too. I got the typical email to notify me that something had been added to the forum, but when I clicked the link I got a message like " OOPs, you don't have the proper clearance for this thread". Something like that. I was left feeling like I might have been the one who caused the thread to go down. It was a confusing message.

Maybe something like " Thanks for your interest but this thread is currently under review by Permies.com staff and MAY or MAY NOT be available in the future. Sometimes things like this happen. If we need you, we'll let you know. Otherwise, feel free to go about your business."


Just a thought to help avoid confusion.
