We've got other people interested in Ducks too! so we just ordered together. CUTIES!

Duckies have to learn too so we took them to FVSU to the one and only best AG Teacher EVER, Dr. Borne!!! YAY!!!
And then they made it home, finally.

Bean had babies!!!

Then one of them had a messed up foot so she didn't like. I had to care for it (which I loved!) and so I had to give it a friend too!

The is Gimpy, the one Bean didn't want. His leg is messed up so I'm trying to correct it with a makeshift sponge brace.

This helps him stay up until he gets used to it and doesn't fall over.

Baby ducks are supposed to be working in the rice paddy weeding, pest patrol and of course fertilizing.  They are not intended to be steril toys in a bathtub.
I am glad you enjoy their cuteness but you have to keep in mind that the nature of permaculture is messy.

Organized chaos, or structured disorder. I would not say messy even though at this stage of our homestead messy is a great word, but Nikki though the cute little ducks pooping in the tub was Not only natural but cute as well.

My muscovies are great mothers without any help and would attack me for messing with their young like that!

We had raised Jelly Bean. She's been a lap duck from the start. She does get feisty with the other ducks around her babies, but she's a little more at ease with me. I think she was totally okay with it because she had already abandoned it though. :/

Ok So Nikki Loves her Ducks but I am going to try to get her to post some more growie oriented pics soon. We both have went through some life changes and some things are speeding up and some have slowed down. I want to get some swale updates on here too. We deep mulched again this year and the clay on our swales can now be dug my hand which is pretty great. I started teaching this year and spend way to much time at the school but our school garden pics can be found here in the link below if you would like to check them out.

I have considered doing a work shop some time soon on educational gardens, or homesteading skills, or bring in someone to teach us how to do some natural building for our site. I teach Agriculture including welding, woodworking, and horticulture, and though it would be neat to just do a week class to expose permies to some of those practical skills if anyone is interested just let us know.  

Your ducks are so cute we have been raiding chickens for a few years now but are in the process of switching over to ducks. Your pictures have us so excited!

I sure do! I love those little quackers! I just finished finals and all so I'll try to start posting more pix...focusing on growies.

Ah! Thank you!!! They sure are! We're adding chucks to ours (haha). They are almost 2 months old now. Chicks seem to grow much slower than ducks, but they sure aren't as messy. Either way, I love them all! If you wanna hollar at us about the ducks, hollar away...they're super easy!
