So I am in my 11th week of my new job as an Agriculture Teacher at my local high school, and finally making progress towards putting in a school garden. To follow will be some pics and descriptions of our process. I am waiting to post some pics because I have to have signed approval forms to use the students photos but I will post what I can soon.

My Signature for the last few years was "just spinning wheels," but after our PDC at Pauls Place this summer I feel like we are finally catching traction. Hope to be threading some more. got a roof on our house, swales dug, and finally starting to work on our plan in more details.

School gardens are such super learning experiences for the kids that I can not imagine any school not wanting to have such a program available to students.

hau Alia, very nice photo documentation of your classes work. I really like the way the raised beds are not all the same height, gives more visual travel to those who see them.
I hope everyone is having great fun working in the gardens, it is one of my great pleasures, to sit in the dirt and feel the earth mother's energy as I work the gardens.

Cool to see. It's funny how different areas can be. Most of what you've got in the greenhouse and under covers grows outside all winter here.

Is your green house going to be used for making transplants for a summer garden? I know that's a popular with school garden programs in my area. The transplants are either sent home with the students for their home use or sold as part of fundraising for the program.

Just checking in. The thing under the cover are all fall crops but I have had some killed by frost in the past. Like broccoli and english peas. More northern climates have protective layer of snow but with high humity even in winter it seems like things that tolerate frost still gets damage. We have only had to cover twice all winter and plants close to the edge did receive frost damage. The green house will be used primarily for plant starts which we will be doing next week. The green house was purchased before I started but was not being used.

So we planned to eat the lettus but had a break from school and it bolted. We pulled some to make room for other plants but left most for pollinator attraction.

Collard greens bout ready to be cooked. Plan to work with the culinary class so those students get a lesson on how the food was grown and my student get t learn how to prepare it. Maybe next week culinary teacher keeps putting it off. These pics are also from feb 8

My Signature for the last few years was "just spinning wheels," but after our PDC at Pauls Place this summer I feel like we are finally catching traction. Hope to be threading some more. got a roof on our house, swales dug, and finally starting to work on our plan in more details.
