Hello Fellow Permaculture  / Homestead Enthusiasts and Community Seekers,

My family and I have been blessed with and own a contiguous 1,000+ acres of land in the Oklahoma Ozarks (Green Country) that is abundant in live clean, pure springs, year round creeks, an abundance of sunshine and long growing seasons and NOT in tornado alley ... a Goshen... We moved out here from the Chicagoland area and have been stewarding the land for 5 years now. The locals are very friendly and we have met some amazing people and made some amazing connections but we believe a strong united like minded community is the only way to survive these coming years ahead and we believe it is time to invite those that are also interested in or being called to building a off-grid Christian homesteading community in the Oklahoma Ozarks as a safe haven for our families and a "city on a hill" to those around us or to those who will come to us.

The land is a equal mixture of mature hardwoods and pine forests, along with lush pastures for grazing and easy building. There are developed roadways  and pathways all throughout the land.

Based on the layout of the land and visiting and communicating with multiple communities across the country, we believe this land is perfectly set up for 12-15 individual or multi-generational homesteads that are approximately 20-50+ acres each where there would be enough grazing land and hay for those who want to graze ruminants and enough open areas to build to get plenty of sun for solar energy.  There is already a catch pen and corral in place where each family homestead can use based on the layout of the land.

Each family 20-50+ acre homestead would be owned and operated independently and ideally would raise/grow things for their family but there would ideally be interdependence within the community (as those you who know - ideal homesteading requires dedication and a team), for example, every homestead would not need to raise heritage A2/A2 dairy, or every family would not need to raise poultry for meat/eggs, etc. (just some basic examples of how community can be extremely beneficial).

There are currently no permits needed for building out here and a house or modular can be placed completely off-grid with no utilities ever needed (besides telecoms (cell, internet, cable, etc. if wanted)) nor any permits needed to do this besides hiring a well drilling company if a family chose this route for water. We have also made connections with an off-grid modular builder that is in the Ozarks and they have some great very affordable. extremely well built off-grid options available where they can build two homes every 6-8 weeks of their customizable 500 sq ft energy efficient homes (where it can be placed w/ or w/o basement, w/ or w/o a garage and w/ or w/o a 320 sq ft screened porch or 3/4 seasons room) but families could also build themselves or with a builder. Families can have just their immediate family on their homestead or have multiple like minded generations of extended family (grandparents, kids, brothers/sisters, etc.), as true sustainable community starts with strong families

If this is something you been seeking or looking for or being called to, please do not hesitate to reach out and we look to connecting with you and your family!

FYI, I received a link to this post via email, but it gave me a page that said I didn't have access to this post.  I finally found another way in, but if you want to make it more permies, you might check on the link that was sent in the email to those in the TX/OK forum.

BTW, this sounds awesome....but lots of questions to ask also.

Bonnie

I was glad to see your post, Ryan. My husband and I live in SE Oklahoma near Poteau and are just in the beginning stages of transforming our land. I’m not sure where exactly your property is located but it would be neat to connect with you guys at some point. Blessings to you in Christ!
