Somebody emailed me and suggested this.  I suggested that they post the idea here, but ....  maybe they were a bit shy?

I see this sort of thing at some homesteading sites.  I suppose it might not be a bad idea.  But I don't think it would be wise to create it and then it sits around unused.

Is there interest in this sort of thing?

Could be alright to have, though I would suspect it would be used sparingly if used correctly.  Singles place on ht seems to be more meaningless drivel on it, then actual 'single and looking' type of topics, so there are daily postings flooding  it.

I'm not sure what sort of format to encourage.

And ... is there interest?  If I crated it, would it just sit there empty?

i wasn't shy, it just sounded like u weren't fond of the idea.  i would post something like a "profile" i have on greensingles.  i have met couples who met on greensingles...and if only one couple got together from this new thread, wouldn't that be worth it!

yeah, true that, I could see it as a profile thing where one says what they are looking for.  It wouldn't sit empty, just stagnant I'd imagine with little activity, since alot of people aren't single.  But if you want, I could post a special, different pic of myself every week in a topic on it, to make it appear active

So, for those of you that want this sort of thing, would you have conversations there, or do you think it would just be folks posting their profile?

In my view, this site is primarily for the discussion and dissemination of permaculture, self-sufficiency, and natural living ideas.  Including a singles forum is an unnecessary distraction and can reduce the integrity of the site.  There is a private message system in place, as well as email should folks decide to develop their discussions further.

Leave the gossip and drama out.

I was thinking that this forum would sit between "tinkering" and "meaningless drivel"

So, pretty out of the way.

I get the impression that it would be of significant value.

I'm still leaning toward setting it up.

If I can get five people that say they will post a profile in there, I'll go ahead and create the forum.

So ... we have two people that would post.  No more?

I would probably post if I could remember to log on enough... that's what I like about Crackbook or facebook in that it sends a reminder to my g-mail accout that someone has responded to a post.    Oooh, cool just found more toys here - thanks paul.

In any case, a singles forum is an interesting experiment since greensingles seems quite sparsely populated and it's always fun to see how diversity grows entertainingly on the edge.

The reminder stuff here used to be defaulted to "off", but then I changed it to "on" - so that should be working now.  Did you get an email when I wrote this post?

Something jogged my memory on this just now.  Glad to see you are all romping in the dampness gleefully.

I'm going to bow out for now as I simply don't have time to date these days.

Yeeee haaaw~

Join us at the Love Tribe Rumpus in Seattle Saturday night~~

If it's not bound by traditional and conservative views on dating, and what "single" entails, I vote yes. Besides, it's a great way to meet people!

Since I don't know what "bound by traditional and conservative views on dating" means, I guess it isn't bound by that.

But the forum is now up and running.  It seems there is a lot of activity.

A lot of the threads there have had over a thousand views.  And there are not many threads.  So a lot of people looking and hardly anybody posting.

I did hear from somebody that at least one connection was made.

C'mon folks, screw up your nerve and post!
