Doc doc the goose

We have a new goose on our land. New by a few months, anyway, when a coworker gave her to me when she could no longer care for her. She's about 8 yrs old and her name is Doc doc and she is just lovely. Until our dog recently dispatched of our remaining hen, the goose had a roomie. With a new chicken coop built we are about to start a new hen flock. The goose will remain in her current, poultry-less enclosure and I am wondering:
Do geese NEED another goose to be happy?
Doc doc seems to be happier without Laverne (our old red hen, OBM) and she enjoys her daily grazing time, chomping on grass and dandies.
Any goose experts know if she would be happier with a buddy of her own feather?

Do you know whether Doc Doc has had any bird companions before? She should by nature prefer a "flock" of some type, but I think that if she's not used to being around other birds it could turn out more negative than positive. If you can find out what companions she's had before, and how it went with them, that would be a place to start I think.

Yes, I found out she had a mate who died a couple of years ago.
She has just begun laying and so I was wondering if maybe I could procure a fertilized egg from another goose keeper and replace one of hers with it for her to raise. She's pretty broody.
To that end, if anyone in Southern California who has a mating pair and will sell/trade/give a fertilized egg, that'd be swell!
Also, we are just putting the finishing touches on a chicken house that will migrate around the property along with and in close proximity to the goose enclosure, so I think one or the other or both will be enough for her. She eats, bathes, forages, and seems generally gregarious by her greetings and curiosity.
Any comments or suggestions (or eggs nearby? ?

I don't know much about geese specifically, but maybe someone else will have more input? (In other words, "bump" )
