Maybe it just never gets cold enough here. I have a couple plants left from last fall. They are like waste high now.  This is the best vegetable. I never pay attention to it. It made it through some 100 degree days. It had aphids and now it doesn't... I need more kale.

says that since it's a brassica, it'll seed at the end of it's second season.

i grew broccoli in pots successfully and its gone to seed this first season ....so  potting it up might speed up the process.  I think you could salvage half the root system and get it to produce new foliage and let the other half be the seed producer. The one you want to grow new foliage you fertilize, the one for making seeds don't fertilize.

ours flower the first year here( assuming from heat ), but if you leave the plant and only collect the seed stalks. it will re-sprout and give you more delicious kale harvests on a drought tolerant and hardy root system. perennial kale
