Hi I have built one for my workshop like in this thread https://permies.com/t/29052/rocket-stoves/builds-experimental

I used old red bricks for the batch box and stacked more around the bottom barrel for some mass.

It as been going for about a week and I'm well pleased, the work shop is 30X35 foot.

The cost apart from the time, about a day, was nothing.

You could put fins on the barrel or use a fan to cool it.

I have nothing against Cindy but I'm not in the USA so cannot get her products.

How long have you be running the stove if the room is cold most of the heat will be lost from the barrel. My work shop stove as no mass and the exit temps is very low until the shop as warmed.

Give it a chance to dry out, you need lots of energy to evaporate the water out of the system.

Vertical flue solved the problem got the top of the barrel to 550F and the flue 5 foot up was cold.

Next job is to rebuild it in my workshop and look forward to a warm winter.
