I'm not going to answer all your questions because I'm sure the others have answered them very well. I homeschooled my four kids until 9th grade and they are all off doing cool things now. Their relationship with each other is amazing and one of the big reasons I kept them home.

As far as starting early - I started all my kids very early. My oldest started reading at 2 and was reading Harry Potter when he was 5. I didn't want them to go to college early either but the great thing is that there isn't a finite amount of stuff to learn. We took some very deep dives into lots of subjects. We went heavily into dinosaurs, then ancient Egypt, forensics, etc.

I have no regrets and as far as I know, they don't either. They had fabulous, interesting childhoods and I loved being that involved in their lives.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but I have a well insulated bag with a drawstring top that I have been using as a crockpot for a few years. I just bring whatever I want to cook to a boil and let it boil for a few minutes, Then seal it up in the bag. It works beautifully, even on unslaked dry beans. I found a pattern on etsy I believe because I wanted to give some as gifts. It is called HopeSaC on etsy.

The soup looks delicious. Thanks for sharing. That will be part of dinner tomorrow night since we have tons of Jerusalem artichokes.

I would like to second the request for instructions to weave a straw hat. I would also love to learn the process of shearing an alpaca or sheep and processing it into yarn.

Yay! I'm so happy to get started on this! This wasn't my first time making a chamomile infusion and this time I took the advice from the link posted and added orange peel and a broken cinnamon stick in the hopes that it would improve the taste. It actually did improve the taste quite a lot. I know that some people like the taste of chamomile but I am not one of those people. So, I weighed 1 ounce of dried chamomile flowers and added the peel and broken cinnamon stick. Then I filled the rest of the quart jar with boiling water. 8 hours later I strained it, stuck a label on it, poured myself a glass and put the rest in the fridge. It tastes pretty good.
