As trees get older they get invaded by mushrooms toward the end of life your tree will go for a couple more years but will slowly be composted by the mush room spawn shiitake and oyster mushroom take around six years to consume a log

Used to use big piles then years ago started doing it in the gardens we do this on large scale gardens. We use raised rows then add all the turkey and sheep bedding in the rows between acts like mulch and feeds the crop at the same time if it is dry we fill the ditch then a layer of card board with some barn hay on top and now you have no weeding

I leave 6 inches between the cardboard and chips then when the corn is six inches I hill the six inch slot

I am familiar with area and cherry trees no long lived without constant care two options cut for wood fire and bigger logs for wood workers then forestry mulched to grind all the stumps and branches this would be contracted out 2 cut the wood and invest in a stump grinder for the tractor or a walk behind the stumps are then leveled so you run a cutter in the future and the mulch will compost on my farm this took us two years little patches at a time
One other option is to cut the trees leave a 4 to 5 ft stump and inoculate with mushroom spore this would give you 5 to 6 years of mushroom farming and decompose the trees

I do it like this I used to compost and till in the gardens now I use wood chips in the sheep barn and turkey houses. I lay cardboard between the rows and lay six to eight inches of the chip manure mix down then the next planting I shift the rows and repeat the card board last around 5 months so I really composting in the garden I have no issues with low nitrogen and the hot manure is slowly release during rain storms and I have not had any burn issues doing this. Big plus very little weeding

I use chips/ chicken turkey house litter. To combat a slight nitrogen drop caused by decomposing wood chips I lay cardboard now first the add the litter on top this does a couple things no weeding as the cardboard holds them down. When it rains the chips/manure make a compost tea the runs into the rows. I leave a 3 to 6 gap on the cardboard to plant in then once the plants are up move mulch between them. The cardboard will decompose and the worms love it end of season either till or top with another layer and shift the rows over this acts like the lasagne method of compostingood luck

I have three large gardens I lay cardboard down kills the weeds and no weeding for me I leave a 2 to 3 inch space and plant there. Then all the clipping and compost items I pu on top of the cardboard after 6 months either till everything in or lay more cardboard and shift the rows after a couple years of this s you will have a super rich garden bed without all the weeding the the compost I s done in the garden so you do not have to move it

I raise Narragansett and have found them to be excellent brooder but usually not till their second season hatch rates runs from 8 to 12 each and I do run the hen and babies to separate rearing cages once hatch to keep them away from the toms. I keep the big coop raised off the ground with nest box and tree perches they go in every night too many coyotes here

Unless they are separated the fighting will get worse with the addition of any hens I keep one for every four hens, once they brood I move the hens to their own raising pens as the TOM are hard on the hens with babies my suggestion get rid of two toms yummy and get a few hens for the the remaining TOM what kind of turkeys are you raising?

I have both chicken and turkey houses what I do is plant my rows then lay cardboard between the rows and add all the chicken/turkey house shavings and manure on the cardboard when it rains it dilutes the manager re and runs into the rows never burn anything like this.  The cardboard makes a great weed barrier the shavings on top help break it down. So I have no weeding and after 6 months or so I till the whole batch in the garden and repeat again for our winter garden nice thing about living in the south I grow year round. After using this system for a couple years I went from clay to some of the best dirt I have ever had.
I get my cardboard from the dollar store on stock day all I can haul for free.
