Biography
I’m a lifelong learner, passionate about sustainable living and soil restoration. I’m diving deep into converting a bus into a mobile home to explore and live off-grid, with plans to immerse myself fully in the permaculture lifestyle. My interests range from woodworking and sewing to exploring alternative energy solutions and tiny living. I’m working on healing from past experiences and embracing new challenges, with a strong desire to learn, grow, and share knowledge within the permaculture community.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for sharing your project — it really appeals to me. I’m recently retired and moved up to Southern Oregon/Northern California looking for a place where I can root myself and be part of something regenerative.

My dream, I call Wormsong Sanctuary — restoring soil's mychorizal network, creating pollinator habitat, keeping bees and chickens, growing clean fish, and showing people how healthy soil supports life. I have a microscope that shows a tardigrade's legs and claws and can display onto a screen so the kids can learn about The Marvelous microbes in the soil. I’ve also got some tools to share and supplies with me (solar panels, batteries, power tools) that could be useful on various projects.

I don’t have an RV or camper — just a regular sedan — so I’d need some kind of simple shelter if I came out to visit. Is there any way that could work for a short stay to see if it’s a good fit?

Best,
Kathleen

My name is Kathleen Grant. I’m 64, on a fixed Social Security income, and seeking a small patch of Earth where I can live simply, care for the land, and carry out my personal mission: restoring soil, supporting native species, and creating a haven for bees, bats, frogs, fireflies, and other ecological allies.

I am not looking for a work exchange or a role within a structured community. I’ve lived a life where my agency—over my time, body, and choices—was taken from me far too often. That part of my life is over.

What I am looking for is a small place of peace among others who value autonomy, community, earth care, and self-paced living. I come with a giving heart—I love to share, offer help, and collaborate when it feels mutual and right—but always from a place of freedom and choice, never obligation.

I have $5,000 to contribute toward a small land share, lease, or co-stewardship opportunity, and I receive a monthly stipend. I’m equipped with solar gear, excellent tools, a deep well of life experience, dedicated permaculture study, and highly creative energy. I seek a place where I can live lightly, love the land, and occasionally commune with others on a similar path.

If your project or community offers that kind of space—independent, earth-rooted, and mutual respect free from hierarchy—I would love to connect.

Hi there,

I came across your land share post on Permies and it immediately caught my heart. The simplicity, respect for permaculture principles, and emphasis on personal peace and autonomy is exactly what I’ve been searching for.
