Live, eat, learn, work and play on a tropical farm in paradise. Hawaiian Sanctuary is an eco-retreat and permaculture center located on the Big Island of Hawai’i.

Our internship program is ideal for those who want to actively engage in a co-creative, intentional community environment while practicing sustainable living. We provide opportunities to integrate with nature, live in harmony with the land, grow your own food, drink water from the sky, and harness energy from the sun.

It is a challenging, yet rewarding, experience that will enrich your mind, body, and spirit.

Our internship program consists of ‘tracks’ which are different ways to contribute to our operations – kitchen, permaculture, guest services, housekeeping, media marketing, and maintenance. Ultimately, our goal is to offer you a unique and empowering, hands-on educational opportunity while supporting our farm and retreat center operations in the high vibe spirit of Aloha.

Kitchen Ninja

This track offers experiential education with a qualified chef and mentor specializing in vegetarian, farm-to-table food from the land. Service is required both in the kitchen and in the garden. This track is for foodies that have a passion for a high-vibe, healthy diet! Tuition $795/mo for this 2-3 month program.

Permaculture Superhero

This track focuses on hands-in-the-earth permaculture education. Through action, you will learn to tend to gardens, nurseries, food guilds and permaculture design from a variety of instructors. This is for people who love getting dirty and waking early! Tuition $795/mo for this 2-3 month program.

Empowerment Track

Through the Empowerment track you will work with three departments wrapped into one awesome experience! Engage in services related to permaculture, kitchen, hospitality and landcare. This track is for multi-faceted individuals interested in practicing multiple skills. Tuition $795/mo for this 2-3 month program.

Aloha Guest Services

Angels in Guest Services/Housekeeping know what it takes to create a clean and comfortable experience in an eco-conscious hospitality environment. This is for people that appreciate SEVA (selfless service). No task is too great or too small in creating a positive environment for others. Tuition $795/mo.

Media Marketing

We are looking for skilled specialists with various media skills including social media marketing, content writing, photography, videography, graphic design, web design, SEO, and more. Do you have a well practiced media skill you would like to contribute? Send us your resume! This track is for a combination of creative, techy personalities. $795/mo.

Building & Maintenance

Our Sanctuary is always improving it’s infrastructure! We need skilled help in construction, building and maintenance. Tasks include renovating and constructing new buildings for accommodations, and keeping up with general maintenance needs throughout our property. This track is for the handy type with a strong work ethic! Tuition $795/mo
