"the solution" - Don't Expect the Waterhemp Problem To Go Away Anytime Soon - Farm Progress

Why is it that "the solution" to any weed problem, in modern monoculture farming, is more chemicals that kill the life of our soils? Why is it that "Extension specialists" are quoted, but the bottom line solution most always comes from Monsanto (advertiser in publications putting out articles). Are we stuck on stupid?
