My sons along will a bunch of family decided to get a permit and cut there own Christmas tree. My 19 year old decided he wanted to cut ours down with an ax. He sharpened it and took it along. 6 families where getting a tree that day. Two people brought chainsaws. Both had issues and stopped working. The day and the two hour drive was saved by the humble ax. It was hard work, but it got the job done. Because my son wanted to try it the "old fashioned" way we got a 10$ Christmas tree, and he had an experience he won't forget.
There is something to be said for tools that don't require gas, or batteries, or have complicated mechanisms. Tools that last a life time, or two, and always work no matter what the conditions.
