Black walnut hulls, partly rotted, apparently are an acceptable substitute for meat in the fly food pyramid.  I had a few hulls that were partly rotting and saw some little friends crawling around them.  

So I realized this could be a helpful thing for anyone wanting to provide feed for laying hens or for wild birds.

Also a good use for black walnut hulls, since who's honestly going to use all that black ink?
