e-coli, synthetic growth hormones and another outbreak

Apparently the strain of e-coli that is used to create synthetic growth hormones that are present in just about all factory farmed beef, lamb, goat and their dairy products in the U.S. is perfectly safe. So (I pondered) why so much sickness from e-coli running around in the U.S.?

I don't have the answers but I do think it is food for thought - but in my house not food for eating. We'll stick to food from our back yard and local farmer thank you. I'm taking a tip from the 27 or so countries in the world that have banned this practice.
