Does anyone around the country do may baskets anymore? When I was growing up in Kansas, we would make a funnel shape with a loop on it out of construction paper, fill it with candy, hang it on a friends doorknob ring the bell and run like hell! Does that just get you shot at these days? Just wondering.
My daughter just made one in "Library Time" yesterday (she's two).
And while waiting with her to pick up my son at pre-school (in the basement of a church) one of the Moms also waiting (and affiliated with the church) was talking about making and ding-dong-ditching the baskets this year as part of this church's projects.
So I guess the tradition is still alive at least in Central IL! I grew up in Northern IL and had no idea what they were talking about... I love that I learn things every day...

Thanks for the response, It's nice to know it is still happening. We just kind of did it on our own and I don't remember how it got started, but it was a lot of fun. Ding-dong ditching is an interesting phrase.
i have read about it in the past but don't ever remembe anyone ever really doing it..or maypoles..in our area..maybe cause it is so dang cold May 1..but it would be a good thing for girl and boy clubs to teach children about doing
