I harvested acorns and put those that floated into my compost a few weeks ago. Now our quail are feasting on pot worms (?) BSF larvae, etc. If I put a scoop full of compost on a board atop the hutch mesh they will wiggle their way right in and self-feed over time. The birds are delighted and you can tip the unfinished compost back into the bin. Give it a try :)
