harvested a 5 gallon bucket full of old moldy yellow limes that had fallen off the tree and emptied the bucket in a large pot full of soil, ive been watering it almost every day for a few weeks and im wondering if there are any chances that they would sprout.
I was hoping someone from citrus zones would answer but they have not. We have a tradition here on the Key Peninsula that the only thing we are allowed to throw out the car window is apple cores. Because this is a good climate and soil for apples many of them grow so our rural roads are lined with apple trees.
With apples the seeds have the best success when covered with leave as they naturally would rather than burred.
It may be the same with citrus.
The permaculture principle is to observe your experimental planting, speculate on the outcome to plan future plantings.
