It's a plant native to South Africa. It is said to be used as medicine to prolong lactation in cattle and for weight loss in cattle I assume they mean to stop weight loss. The bulb is known to be poisonous to livestock but it was unable to find any information on the leaves. Sheep never touched the leaves but cattle try to graze them every chance they get I have two bulls that have been grazing them since they were small we tried to stop them so they only ever get small amounts. I would like to do some experiments with drying it but I would prefer to know if the chemicals that are in it could be removed that way. I don't want to poison animals but it would be a great source of feed in winter if it is usable. It maintains green foliage throughout the dry season.
