Favorite Book - Richard Leakeys " The Sixth Extinction " . There have been five mass extinction in earths history . As much as 95% of the life wiped out. But these were life shaping events not "Totally F@"#ed" events. Our current biosphere and fauna /flora are the evolved survivors of these events. Mankind is creating the Sixth extinction at this point. I don't believe the earth is screwed , maybe us. I grieves me to know we may see gorillas and elephants go extinct in our lifetimes. We may prove ourselves an evolutionary deadend - and take some other beings with us . But we will not destroy the planet. We will prove that big brains are not so great an idea after all. Unless we become good stewards like Lawton and Fukuoka.
