Hey all,
I'm just discovering the RMH as I was searching for a mech to drive a idea I have.
I want to build an entertainment area. A patio of sorts w/ a heating system.
My first idea was a corner fireplace w/ knee walls extending out 10 feet. These walls would be backed w/ lattice fencing and (ideally) a climbing vine. All oriented to the NW to provide shelter from the winter winds. The fire box was to have a heat transfer mech to deliver hot air out the knee walls, and ported to flow out towards the center of the patio area. This would use a fan in back of the fire place.
While not perfect, I think the added warm air flow, the radiant heat and cheer of the fire would be nice for a 10 diameter round picnic table in the middle.
Now I discover RMH and begin thinking of radiant heat in the patio floor itself.
But from what I have seen I loose the visual cheer of an open fireplace... and I'm not versed in the radiant capacity (distance) of the exhaust loop( novice terms)
I had thought of the Knee walls behaving like the bench warmers and then porting out into the patio...but I suspect they will absorb too much heat to be of any real hot air blowing out.
Anyone done/seen/thought of this?
