I remember how delicious physalis were as a kid, eating them growing naturalised on my grandfather's smallholding.
I want to plant some in my new garden in the hope they'll go wild, too, but I am puzzled which variety to buy as there are so many! I'm not particularly concerned about getting
perennial varieties, if the annual ones freely self-seed. I do need good drought tolerance, as that part of the garden is unlikely to be irrigated and rainfall is 1 - 1.5" per month.
What varieties would you recommend for flavour, productivity, and ability to survive neglect?
