are you wanting to grow things that require good drainage, such as most food crops, or do you just want something green there? In the latter case you could choose from several plants that actually like shade and moisture. There are even a few that are edible....fuki (Petasites) comes first to mind, and various taro (Colocasia) if you are in a warmer climate......
