Question for Mr. Sundeen: surviving without money in a cold climate

I haven't read the book yet, but I looked at Suelo's website and find it fascinating. He seems to live in a reasonably hospitable climate for sleeping outside. Has he travelled to any cold climates, and if so, what has he done for shelter if there in the winter? Does he depend on other people for shelter? I'm wondering because I live in a region of very cold and snowy winters, and I'm wondering how his moneyless lifestyle would work up here in the upper Midwest or places further north.
