Hello All,
I'm looking for opportunities. Long story short as possible, my girlfriend and I pursued advanced degrees in fields we no longer believe in. We followed jobs and did what academics are supposed to do, but ultimately found it unfullfilling and hollow. We're ready to simplify our lives and find a little place we can homestead and call home (though it may take some time to actually pull this off). We are both in love with southern Oregon, and have decided to move there, some place between Cave Junction and Klamath Falls, at the end of July. I know there is a healthy Permies community out there, and I'd love to meet some people and start getting integrated in.
I realize this is vague, but right now I'm just interested in whatever may be available. I would love to work, help out some people and their projects and learn more about local conditions and factors. An actual full-time job/internship on a farm would be awesome, but I realize that may be tough to come by and I may have to work a day job and do permaculture on the side. Perhaps someone would be willing to exchange housing or partial rent for help around their homestead? Any leads or ideas would be much appreciated. I've read many permaculture books, completed a PDC, and have been part of getting a workers cooperative start-up off the ground this summer. We have been working on several permaculture-esque projects, including building multiple hugelbeds, a cob oven, a cob bench, multiple arbors with roundwood timbers, and such the like. I love plants and have been accused of having a green thumb by many.
Any info/leads would be much appreciated, and I'm happy to share more personal info with anyone interested.
Thanks to all,
Derrick
