I've never grown corn before so I have some questions. I grew
Carol Deppe's Cascade Ruby Gold.
Of the five ears I've picked none are fully red, but the corn does have the physical characteristics of the original seed variety (narrow and eight rows)s. I'm getting white to a light orange (with red spots, and some faintly red kernels). Did I get sweet corn contamination? Because of that
should I treat like sweet corn and just harvest now and eat fresh rather than try to dry for flint corn? Is it possible the redder ears are developing their color and won't show a full red until the husks are dry?
None of my direct neighbors are growing corn, especially sweet corn. But of
course I can't know who is growing corn within a 1 mile radius...
Any help would be great! Thanks.
