Growing in Context

Hey all!

I am moving to MX part-time until I can fully transition to living there. I intend on farming, however I am very limited in my knowledge of the ecology there. Does anyone have any hands-on experience that can give me words of wisdom? Or any book recommendations? I have taken a permaculture approach to high desert areas, along with semi-tropical and tropical areas. But there is nothing like feet on the ground wisdom.. or books with a very specific knowledge/informaiton base.

Which part of Mexico?  I feel the sea coast area might be different from the mountain areas.

Cucamelons would probably do well in most areas.

And avocados.

In the Puerto Escondido regional area or perhaps Morelos. It is sort of up in the air where I want to land and I am planning on trying to make arrangements on WWOOF farms next year that have data access so I can both work and pay since I want to keep my full-time remote job. Really I am curious about the more desert and coastal regions.

I feel going with Wwoof is a great solution.

Rent might be pretty high during the tourist season so Wwoof would give you a place to avoid rent and the ag experience.

I have never been to the coastal towns.
