Sida rhombifolia has taken over an old "dog yard" (16x16 fenced area) which is soon to become the new Rabbitry as well as spilling out of those boundaries and into the surrounding
yard. An old Indian herbalist I consulted has suggested that while the livestock (rabbits/chickens/ducks) will not eat it currently, it does have
medicinal uses and might be worth keeping in a controlled area. From my searches
online, it seems it is used in Ayurvedic medicine, as rough cordage, and for making brooms. The
roots contain alkaloids, ephedrine, and saponin.
My question to this forum is: has anyone dealt with this plant? does anyone use it for medicinal or other uses? if so, in what ways? Does anyone know how I might go about finding if there is a market for this plant or products from it?
