Hello Permies community!

I am 52 years old, in great health and spirits, looking for the next adventure in my life.
Non drinker, no substances etc.
I am a carpenter by trade, as a writer, as well as a studio artist and creator. I love working with my hands and i have an appeal for how things look as well as form and function.
For the past several years I have been on a mission to be of service to humanity. Working in leadership at a retreat center in Orlando, as well as forming and running an east Coast mens organization where we had retreats and weekly meetups. Built a mentorship network for the center and helped start a low coast coaching program for people who have been through various experiences with retreats and other spiritual programs.
I am now at a part of my life where material gain seems fruitless, unless those gains are for the purpose of securing and thriving in a humble life. I am interested in working along side someone with similar interests, whether that be off grid, farming, or any other kind of projects and lifestyles.
I am easy going with a stoic disposition and I don't require much as long as i have my books, something to do daily and the ability to write and express myself. I enjoy solitude as well as engaging conversations. My music tastes are far from offensive and I eat modestly. I love all animals and call them all "nuggets".

What do you have going on that you could use some long term help with? Im excited to hear about it and see where I could potentially fit in.

Floating this out there for now in hopes it will resonate with somone in need and we can get some dialogue going about it.

Until then, be well Permies peeps!

Hello Christopher,
I saw your post and then joined Permies in order to reply.  We might be able to help each other.  I am a 73 year old male living on 35 acres of mostly wooded land in SW Virginia.  My partner on this land died 3 months ago, and along with his half of the land and piles of accumulated stuff, I inherited his old house, which I am now starting to clean out.  The house needs work!  I'm not sure how much, but I strongly suspect that 2 rooms will have to be torn down.  I'm too old to do it myself, preferring to live in a small cabin I built in the woods above it anyway.  I can think of several ways we might work out a way for you to live here for an extended time, maybe even a permanent time, if you are interested.
Both his house and mine lack plumbing.  His house has some grid electricity and some solar; mine just solar.  His house has some minor local historical significance.  These days I grow a small garden, which used to be bigger, and could be so again.  I am a pacifist, atheist, gay, nature-loving, vegetarian artist, among other things.  I avoid drugs, alcohol and TV.  I can give you more details if you want.  But be forewarned:  I'll be slow to respond, since I only access the internet on weekly trips to the local library.
Please let me know if I have piqued your interest with any of this, and we'll see if something comes of this "shot in the dark."

Hi,
I am wishing for home repairs to improve curb appeal and i would love a porch/green house addition. My home is small, 650sqft and I have space for a camper or tiny home, or my daughter just moved out and her small bedroom is available.
I have been doing the chicken thing, try to grow a garden, think a lot about forest management of small 6 acres, work at pollinator/wildlife cohabitation while figuring out income and working a full time job. I do not drink or drugs, try to eat clean and also spiritual work is important to me. My budget is limited, and I am open to discussing if a symbiotic relationship would work.
Please message with more if this could work for you.
