I have been considering posting this for a while now, as my previous assistant has moved on to other adventures!

I am a carpenter/builder, 52 years old, strong and healthy, and I’m looking for a companion or a couple or a mother and child to occupy and maintain these 40 rolling acres.

The property is in between Jackson and Ann Arbor, and is situated in an agricultural area adjacent to lake and cottage country.

There is a strong homesteading community here, as well as a rich naturopathic, spiritual, and organic community center 25 minutes east, in Ann Arbor.

by posting here, I am hoping to meet one or two individuals who would be interested in joining me here and trying their hand at working gardens, chickens, camp host, etc.

There is much potential for an interest individual to explore their passions and experiment with ideas.

My home is furnished, in good repair, and my property tidy. The right candidate will have a private bedroom, share the kitchen and single bathroom in the house.

The water is from a well, the heat from propane and wood collected and processed on site, and electricity from the grid. However, I have managed to install a battery back up and working to connect solar for full off-grid capability in the event of a grid failure.

there is much to tell about myself and the property, so if you’re interested, please send a message. Tell me a little about yourself, your situation, and your aspirations.

Thank you for reading and I hope to hear from you soon!   Carl

Hi Carl,
Your situation is appealing. I am 46, single, female. I've been dreaming of living the kind of life you describe in your post. I have been fascinated with the no-till garden method for many years, but have been limited to houseplants and currently a few small beds my landlord permits me to play with. Simple things make me happy...putting seeds in dirt is deeply satisfying. I cook all my meals, thrive on being productive, and have a love of learning, especially practical things. I currently work fully remote Monday through Friday in the mortgage industry, then weekends behind a bar.

I rarely drink anymore but I love being in an environment where people will put their phone down and speak to the stranger next to them, plus I need human interaction which is easy to forget about working remote.

I've been a bit of a nomad but want my next move to be to a significantly colder climate and maybe stay put for a while. I am currently in eastern NC, and in SE Texas before here. I have a very old dog that is still plugging along, but am otherwise untethered aside from a lease ending in April. I plan my next move to be only things that will fit in, or on, my car so a furnished living space in trade for honest work would be ideal. I would still need to maintain a job, because I have bills and am a ways to being out of debt, something I've been chipping away at for a while.

I'd like to hear a bit more about what expectations you have, timeline for someone moving in, and approximate hours per week. I like having a full day and am usually up for four or five hours before I log on to work. Mostly to workout but turning that habit into sweat equity would be lovely. I really don't have days off very often currently as I've made a choice for mostly financial reasons as getting out from under debt is a challenge, plus the tax debt of being a contractor as I am soaks up much more than one would expect.
What would your ideal situation look like? Looking forward to hearing more.
Kind regards,
Leah

Good learning lesson, one can only edit a post rather than delete on this forum.
