Hi all, I'm building a record-keeping app for small herds (goats, cattle, sheep, poultry) and I'm sharing it here honestly, since Permies allows that.

Before writing a line of code I read about 4,000 critical reviews of the existing livestock apps. The same three complaints came up everywhere: records vanish after updates, the "free" tier caps you at 25 animals AFTER you've spent hours typing everything in, and you pay a separate subscription per species. Several farmers literally wrote that they went back to paper diaries.

So these promises are baked into HerdKeep:
- Works fully offline (barns don't have Wi-Fi)
- Backs up automatically to YOUR Google Drive, not our servers
- Unlimited animals, every species in one app
- Export everything to CSV/PDF, free, forever, your records stay yours even if you leave

It's at the founding-farmers stage: https://herdkeep.higgsfield.app/?src=permies - early access is free for people who join now and tell me what to build.

What I'd genuinely value from this community: what does your current system (paper, spreadsheet, app) get wrong? What would a homestead herd book have to get right before you'd trust it?

Welcome to permies Valentin, thanks for sharing about your app. with us.

Oh, sure, you could do that. Or you could eat some pie. While reading this tiny ad:
try homesteading without the stress and anxieties of buying a homestead
