Will hardy kiwi on hugelkultur cause root rot?

When studying Hardy Kiwi, I read that they can be susceptible to root rot. Has anyone had an issue with this when growing on hugelkultur because of the wet spongy mass? Perhaps this is a silly concern. Thanks folks!!

I would say no. My kiwi vines were not doing well until I mulched them heavily and dug in some rotting wood. Since then, they have taken off and are doing quite well.

We've found it to be very invasive and hardy. We planted it in the garden 20 years ago, then moved it to the edge of our propert as it was taking over. It's quite huge in the new spot. I was poking around behind the chicken coop the other day and found plants with kiwis on them, which means 2 somehow survived.

Be careful where you plant it.

I'm planning on setting up a kiwi crop on top of two feet of hugelkultur, one foot of wood underground, one foot above ground. Trellised similarly to grapes. Alternating between rows of kiwi, and rows of mixed food forest.
