Hello Permies people!

I've been a very long time lurker over the years and love this site and forum.  We have taken the plunge into an alternative lifestyle applying a lot of the stuff we have learned from Permaculture folk and more.  We are living in a cob, straw bale, earth bag, and regular stick framed mixed house.  It's about 1,200 sq feet heated by a rocket-stove bench and a cook stove.  We are likely to build another house in the next three years or so because we messed up on many things on this first one.  We learned a lot and it was a great experience overall.  It still isn't all the way finished, but it's liveable and we are living in it.

Anyways I'd like to share a solar system crash course my wife and I wrote up after building our own system.  It's an 800 watt 12v system with a 200 AH battery bank.  We do not have electricity in our house by choice but it powers our shop and we can charge things there.  It was a pretty massive learning experience for me and I just wanted to help others with what I learned.  There are books with lots of info, and websites with small amounts of info but not a lot between.  The intent of the writeup was to get a good amount of info fairly quickly with some resources to dig further if desired.  I don't want to post it all in here since it's fairly lengthy but wanted to share the link and download.  Hope it helps speed the process up for others.  It's a pretty much what I wish I knew before I got started.
