So Jen and I sat down and worked out what we consider to be the nine things you can do (or not do) to be a good neighbor....and hope that our neighbors can do the same to us.

We have had (and still do have) some wonderful neighbors...and we have had a few nightmares as well.

What do you think? Have we missed something?

Having lived in several different homesteads in several different states, I can safely say that the number one cause of trouble between neighbors, without fail, is DOGS! In particular, trespassing dogs that kill a neighbor's animals. The law of the jungle then states that said neighbor stands a good chance of shooting said dog, perhaps on a later occasion, and perhaps any dog caught trespassing. The result can quickly become an ugly feud.

We had a dog come and attack our chickens.....so I know how that story can start

Thanks for bringing that up...I will add something to our page
