I saw these white things on several branches of this shrub. What are these? Also, I'm guessing that the shrub is some sort of a Viburnum (looks a little like a nannyberry), but no idea what it actually is... New Brunswick, zone 5.

At first glance, I thought it was scale and did a search. Still think it is scale, here's a link.

agree it's scale insect, not a worry unless it's on young plant and more than half

can prune out the affected branches and it will reduce population

or scrub them off, fruit has already set so dont worry

Thanks, you're absolutely right! I've only ever seen one type of scale before, on indoor plants, so these took me completely by surprise.
