I just pruned some lower branches from a large cedar tree that was crowding an apple tree. I am wondering if I could use the cedar wood in a hugelculture (sp?) raised bed intended to grow blueberries? If so, are there any other acid-loving perennial edibles I could also throw in? Thanks for any help.

Hey Jobe -
We have a lot of cedar and do NOT put it into our hugels. Cedar takes a long time to break down, bugs don't care for it, so it doesn't incent insects in the soil etc. We prefer to enjoy it perfuming our fireplace.
Doesn't mean you can't. Brambles like blackberries, huckleberries and raspberries are good with acidic soil, even asparagus. Then of course of the wonderful acid loving stuff like tomatoes, basil.
hope this helps.
