Growing Black Pomegranate Fruit

Shane, thanks for referring me to this forum. And, for your post on the Black Pom variety! I have been searching for a good variety to plant in my garden.

Hey Victor,

A guy from India told me that evergreen pomegranate varieties are only cold hardy down to 25f. I am going to protect mine in the winter just in case. How cold has it been at your house?

at this time I will not be sending more cutting for now until my tree recovers. =) I will start sending more cuttings again after 06/30/2016 my tree is exhausted and hardly has any big branches.

hi i'm very new arround here, and i've also got fascinated with this fruit. but im in portugal.

i wonder if would be possible to receive a few "seed" from the fruit by post to portugal?. ill try to grow this tree from seed. The cuttings would never be accepted across the border.
any one can help me in this? just seed (fresh ones of course!)

Hi Victor I think your black pomegranate is gorgeous. I'd love to grow something like it myself - but I'm in Australia so I can't bring cuttings in even once the tree recovers enough to provide some more, because quarantine. I could import seeds though. Can I buy some of the seeds from you, next time your tree fruits? I know they won't come true to type, but they'll have the genetics so I should be able to grow a bunch of them out and select for something good. Pomegranate seeds don't need any special treatment, just rinse well & dry, so it should be pretty easy.

PM me with postage + cost for the seeds please? Thank you If I manage to get a good selection from the seedlings I'll name it after you.

I have read with enthusiam through this forum about black pomegranate.

EcoRUKELA is a sustainable farm currently being developed in Cuba.
We have limited resources, as you can expect, and are constantly looking for collaboration and support to increase our fruit trees varieties.

I don't think we have this variety of pomegranate in Cuba...
Do you think is it possible to obtain some cuttings from your plant? It will be magic, if we can have this here!!

Let us know if this is possible, so we can arrange with someone in Miami, Florida for shipping.
We will be more than happy to pay por any shipment costs to Miami.

What an amazing tree you have. My uncle told me about a guy he used to work with that had those types of pomegranates and we have been looking for them for years …. With no luck in finding them. With such high demand of people wanting clippings from your tree, have you ever thought about starting an Etsy page so we can purchase them from you? I also live in Southern California (Inland Empire) and would love to purchase some clippings from you if you’d be willing to sell me some.
