Looking through books & online thought it might be Common Laccaria? Picture of gills obviously of an older mushroom, though younger ones have similar open, wavy pattern. Stalk is woody & dry, mushrooms growing in large groups about 3 ft away from swampy area. Any help is appreciated!
Common Laccaria is a more orange color. It grows all around my farm. But it's extremely difficult to guess what you do have without spore prints or close ups of the gills. Until then, we'll have to go with "LBM"- a little brown mushroom! Oh well, a LOT of mushrooms we see are LBMs.

I find David Arora's "All that the rain brings and more"
and "Mushrooms Demystified"
to be very helpful.
In the first one, he says that you can know it's a laccaria when the stem breaks cleanly like a piece of chalk, and when a milky fluid flows out. The characteristics of different mushrooms are the key to mushroom ID.
Happy hunting.
