Several years ago we completed taking down five huge pine trees! We chipped what could be chipped and then I had a bunch of pine that was left! I had just started learning permaculture and decided that I would give it a shot...not sure what the tannin would do for the bed! I installed the first one in my front yard just inside the easement in fall, planted it with peas and oats to over winter and then that spring planted a blueberry at each end and 3 asparagus on each side! I am so thrilled with the results! I only "tasted" the first year...I immediately installed another one!
Picture 1- dug a trench and laid down logs. Picture 2- pyramid as high as it would stack, mixed with rabbit compost, etc. Picture 3- spring planting of blueberry and asparagus before mulched!

Those Blue berries are going to love their new home, should be right in the sweet spot of acidity for them. Nice mound!
