Japanese Cherry Blossom in Permaculture

Hello Everyone,

I am a newb here at Permies. I started a public lot here in Columbus Ohio, and I would like to have a little food forest on it. I have seeds for Seaberries, goji berries, pawpaw trees, american hazelnut, serviceberries, blueberries, golden raspberries and many other great perennials. I also have seeds for the Japanese flowering cherry but i am not quite sure how it would benefit the garden outside of how pretty it is.

I can't think of a better reason than the fact that it's beautiful. If you are doing it in a public space even more people will be interested and maybe look into permaculture more if you have neat stuff in there. It probably attracts a lot of pollinators.
