Electric weeding shears

Look at the picture below. This tool looks like it would be quite useful for weeding vegetable beds. I have used my full-sized hedge cutter for this, but I think for most people, a one-handed, smaller device may be more appropriate. Do any of you use a device like this for your weeding?

 I always prefer to shear weeds off,  rather than pull them and tear up the soil.

 For regular chop and drop of woody material, nothing beats the speed of my cordless hedge cutter. Material is chopped up finely.  I make no attempt to direct where it falls. The little chunks find their own place on the surface of the soil.

That would be a super tool for the gardener.

I use my big Ryobi battery hedge trimmer for harvesting weeds...thus weed control. It does a 24" swath. Like you, I don't often pull weeds out by the root. It depends upon the situation, but usually I just cut weeds off close to ground level. Using the hedge trimmer I can weed an area in the fraction of the time it would have taken to hand pull it.

My battery hedge trimmer is one of my favorite tools.

This thread is about my hedge cutter converted to a sickle bar mower. It is useful on large expanses, where everything is to be cut.

A single wheel attached to the small hand shear, could be useful in tighter spaces.

 I could also see mounting it on a handle. Imagine a hockey stick with the lower blade removed and replaced with this unit.
