I'm getting ready to build a standard DIY hoophouse with arched cattle panels, much like this one. But before I do, I'm really questioning whether I should instead try to build a half-hoop house, since it will be done on a south facing slope and I think I could potentially take advantage of of some thermal sink of the ground. Has anyone build anything like this? I'm interested in the pros and cons of this design, as well as any design details or plans if ya'll have them.

I like this idea., but I think that it will need reenforcement, can't really explain why, I just intuit that.
Not enough tension perhaps?

I presume an insulated back, I might also "berm" it with carbonous matter, like leaves, throw a tarp over that ,soil over the tarp and a winter cover crop over that , for a beast with a " hairy" well insulated back.
