"grass surprising bulbs"

Hi... pulled from an Apple Gild example is in part the following.....

Does anyone know what exactly is meant by "grass surprising bulbs"?

Are you sure that it says "surprising" instead of "suppressing"?

If it is suppressing (which I believe it is) they are plants that inhibit the growth of plants typically considered grass.

Thanks Thomas.... it was a typo in the original and as you guessed, had I continued to read further through the list I would have seen "grass suppressing" in the next examples.

I have a variety of onion relatives under each of my apple trees. So far, Garlic Chive Allium tuberosum and Canada Onion Allium canadense are the most prolific and can form a nearly solid carpet of deliciousness.
